The first training event of the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Systems Connect series of workshops took place in Greece. Hosted at the premises of the NTUA Multimedia Amphitheater, the 4 day event took place from 18th to 21st September 2023. HellasQCI, as part of the EuroQCI initiative, is co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme. This project on behalf of Greece, together with other EU Member States, the CSA project PETRUS and the European Commission will achieve the co-creation of the EuroQCI. The HellasQCI project is coordinated by GRNET which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

 Other participating EU member state representatives were in attendance including Dr. Deirdre Kilbane, IrelandQCI Coordinator and Director of Research at Walton Institute at SETU, who presented an overview of Ireland’s National Quantum Communication Infrastructure. Stakeholders in attendance enjoyed networking as well as a welcome address by Prof. Stefanos Kollias, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GRNET, a presentation on QKD Networks from Ass. Prof. Kanellos NKUA, HellasQCI Technical Coordinator, and an overview of the project and its synergies with EuroQCI by Dr. Ilias Papastamatiou, HellasQCI Project Coordinator of GRNET. Other topics covered across the training event include Cybersecurity and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).
