Quantum Internet 2023, an SFI CONNECT Centre Science Week event

Dr. Deirdre Kilbane, Director of Research at Walton Institute and Co-PI at CONNECT Centre, joined Professor Dan Kilper of Trinity College Dublin and Director at CONNECT Centre, for a fascinating event during Science Week 2023.

Held at the stunning Goethe-Institut on Dublin’s Merrion Square, Dr. Kilbane and Prof. Kilper were joined by Berlin-based artists kenndy+swan for a panel discussion on the theme ‘Quantum Internet 2023.’ The event was hosted by Science Foundation Ireland’s CONNECT Centre and was an enjoyable showcase of quantum technologies and knowledge, and an in-depth discussion about the impact of AI on art, and humanity, in the future.

Jerry Horgan, Walton Institute’s Head of Division Research Infrastructure and Testbeds (RIT) was in attendance to demonstrate examples of quantum capabilities, while kennedy+swan showcased their smart artwork. Dr. Kilbane presented an overview of the IrelandQCI project, during the week that Minister Simon Harris announced the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science’s Quantum 2023, Ireland’s first national strategy for quantum technologies.

Walton Institute leads the IrelandQCI project with a consortium of partners including Trinity College Dublin with close support from SFI’s CONNECT Centre.
