IrelandQCI at HEAnet annual conference 2024

Across November 6th – 8th 2024, IrelandQCI consortium partner HEAnet hosted its Annual Conference HEAnet 2024, in Killarney, Co. Kerry. One of Ireland’s leading education research conferences, this year saw a record high attendance of 400+ participants from the education and research sector, including ICT directors, managers, ICT & research staff, librarians, cyber security experts, and more.

HEAnet 2024’s extensive programme of events focused on client case studies and technology workshops on topics including cyber security, collaboration tools, strategy, digital transformation, identity and research.

Professor Dan Kilper Director at CONNECT Centre presented an overview of the IrelandQCI project to this audience, showcasing the IDQ QKD boxes that the IrelandQCI project is using to run tests and develop Ireland’s future quantum internet.

HEAnet is a key industry partner in the IrelandQCI project, as the quantum communications network is being built across the dark fibre optic network of ESB Telecoms parallel to the existing HEAnet backbone between Dublin, Waterford and Cork.
