SUMMARY:IrelandQCI Launches Quantum & Answers Trailer
DESCRIPTION:29th May 2025 \nTrinity College Dublin’s Front Square was the site of the official launch of IrelandQCI’s Quantum & Answers Trailer\, an innovative mobile engagement unit designed to bring quantum technologies to life for the Irish public. \nThe Irish government was represented by Patrick Neary\, Assistant Secretary – Communications at the Department of the Environment\, Climate and Communications\, the co-funder of the IrelandQCI project\, who was joined by Professor Linda Doyle\, Provost of Trinity College Dublin\, Dr Deirdre Kilbane\, IrelandQCI Project Lead and Director of Research at the Walton Institute\, South East Technological University (SETU)\, John Regan\, Managing Director of ESB Telecoms and IrelandQCI consortium partner and Professor Dan Kilper\, Director at CONNECT Research Ireland Centre for Future Networks. \nA highlight of the project is the IrelandQCI Quantum & Answers Trailer – an interactive mobile unit designed to demystify quantum science. Funded by the European Commission and the Department of the Environment\, Climate and Communications and supported by the CONNECT Research Ireland Centre\, the trailer features hands-on experiments and interactive demonstrations to help the public better understand quantum concepts and their real-world applications. It also aims to inspire future generations to explore careers in science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics (STEM). \nFollowing the official launch\, the IrelandQCI Quantum & Answers Trailer remained on display at Trinity College Dublin today engaging students and general public\, with quantum demonstrations taking place on board. The Q & A trailer will now embark on a roadshow tour across the country in the year ahead\, exhibiting at national and regional events including showcasing at schools\, STEM events and industry conferences\, with the objective of educating stakeholders on the benefits of quantum communication technologies.

SUMMARY:QCI Ireland Event - 1st-3rd July 2024
DESCRIPTION:About this event\nJoin us in Dublin for an exclusive Quantum Communication event this July!\nThis invite-only event is an exclusive opportunity to hear from experts across the quantum communication community\, representing industry and academia\, during a 3 day conference in Dublin\, taking place 1st-3rd July 2024.\nRepresentatives from ‘EuroQCI Industrial and Deploy National’ projects are invited to attend a closed PETRUS meeting at the venue on Monday 1st July\, and stay on in Dublin to join local Irish stakeholders from the quantum industry for a 2 day conference with key stakeholder workshops\, training and continued networking.\n1st July Day 1: PETRUS Workshops (closed meeting)\n2nd July Day 2: Key Stakeholder Meetings\n3rd July Day 3: IrelandQCI Workshops\nAbout IrelandQCI:\nIrelandQCI\, the ‘Building a National Quantum Communication Infrastructure for Ireland’ project incorporates integrating innovative and secure quantum devices and systems into conventional communication infrastructures. This will be done by enhancing the ESB Telecoms’ optical fibre network with an additional layer of security\, all based on quantum physics\, in particular quantum key distribution (QKD).\nTechnology specialists in six universities across Ireland\, are partnering with ESB Telecoms and HEAnet\, and pooling their expertise and resources to add an extra security layer to Ireland’s communications infrastructure and the data it transmits.\nIrelandQCI is one of several projects across the EU which sees the European Commission working with 27 Member States\, as well as the European Space Agency\, towards the deployment of a secure quantum communication infrastructure spanning the EU. The project is co-funded by the European Commission and the Irish government’s Department of the Environment\, Climate and Communications.\nOnly PETRUS representatives from EuroQCI Industrial and Deploy National projects should register for Day 1. Places are limited\, registration is essential.
